Interview with Muhlenberg's Eric Branch
The Muhlenberg boys basketball team is making the transition from Division 2 of the Berks Conference to Division 1. The Muhls are competing with Reading, Wilson, and Gov. Mifflin for division supremacy this season. “I think it’s gonna be tough. It’s gonna be a battle every single game,” said senior guard Eric Branch. The Muhls made their league opener look easy. They rolled over Gov. Mifflin 70-38 in Laureldale. Branch, Alex Collado, and Luis Valentin were key contributors off the bench. They combined for 24 points. Branch had eight points including a pair of 3-pointers. Muhlenberg is well known for taking a lot of shots from beyond the arc, but Branch knows that they also have to get the job done on the other side of the floor. “Coach Flowers emphasizes that every single day in practice. Defense is the top priority,” stated Branch. Matt Flowers was voted Berks County Coach of the Year last season.
The Muhls got off to a (6-2) start. SV Sports caught up with Branch who’s averaging 10 points per game this year.
