Exeter sophomore Jillian Warner

Exeter was looking for its first BCIAA girls volleyball championship since 2019.  In order to take the crown, the Eagles had to go through a dynasty.  Wilson had won the previous four Berks County titles.  The county final was on the Bulldogs home turf in West Lawn on Thursday night.  Exeter, which finished third in Division 1 during the regular season, swept Wilson 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-22).  "It feels amazing. Coming in their gym and breaking that streak...it feels great," Jillian Warner told SV Sports' Paul Roberts.  The Eagles fell behind 14-10 in the first set and 13-6 in the second set.  They were able to turn it around when it mattered the most.  "I think just the energy, stay up no matter what, pick each other up and [move on] to the next point," she explained.  Exeter jumped out to a 17-9 lead in the third set before the Bulldogs climbed within a point at 21-20.  Once again, the (14-4) Eagles were able to win the pivotal points down the stretch.  Warner, a 5'10 sophomore, had a team-high 14 kills and 11 digs.  Taylor Mack added 11 kills and Lily Acker finished with 37 assists.  They're both sophomores as well.  Senior captains Ridleigh Moyer (8 kills) and Sami Baer (10 digs) were key contributors.  Audrey Gierlich, a junior, chipped in with seven kills and three blocks.  In an interesting twist, these teams will square off again on Wednesday in the first round of the District 3-4A playoffs.  The ninth-seeded Bulldogs will travel to eighth-seeded Exeter for a 7pm match.  "I hope we have a great District run. I think we can go really far," said Warner.
