Aleyshka Lopez from Reading talks with SV Sports

If you’ve ever seen Aleyshka Lopez dance, you would never guess that she’s shy. The Reading High School senior has nearly 112,000 followers on TikTok, but she’s extremely reserved when she’s not performing. As soon as the music starts, however, Lopez flips the switch. “Once you hit the dance floor, you let loose and you don’t feel anything,” she said. Lopez is one of 25 members of the Reading dance team. Their high-energy routines are becoming increasingly popular. The team performed at the boys basketball game on Senior Night at the Geigle Complex. The video taken by SV Sports of that electrifying halftime show has been played almost 900,000 times on Instagram. The squad is coached by Jonathan Vazquez, a 2014 Reading graduate. Lopez mentioned that dancing has helped her grow as a person. “It makes me feel more confident about myself,” she noted. Many of her dance videos on TikTok have gone viral. “I really like that people love to watch dancing because dancing is something I love,” said Lopez. She began dancing when she was eight years old and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. The Reading dance team will be performing at Reading Rebels home games in April. They’re held at Alvernia University. Lopez told Paul Roberts of SV Sports that when she’s not dancing, you can usually find her studying in the library. Lopez would like to become a dental hygienist. She revealed her top 3 musical artists and her favorite dance crew.
